We make many different movements throughout the day. Our muscles and bones work together to move our body.

  • Bones are hard and rigid. We cannot bend our bones.

  • Muscles are soft and flexible. Many muscles are joined to bones. When muscles move, they pull and push the bones.

A voluntary movement is when we make a movement that we want to, for instance, when we pick up a glass.

An involuntary movement is one that we do not control. For example, when we touch something hot, and then take our hand away quickly.
